Downtown Brooklyn Partnership is now accepting applications for the Make It in Brooklyn Sustainable Materials Pitch Contest, a competition supporting emerging companies developing innovative solutions to make materials more sustainable, circular, and resource efficient.
Sustainable materials startups will have the opportunity to pitch their product or technology to a panel of industry experts, investors, and ecosystem leaders while competing for up to $10,000 in funding and commercialization support.
Prize Structure
The winning startup will receive:
- A $5,000 unrestricted cash prize from Downtown Brooklyn Partnership
- Up to an additional $5,000 in milestone-based commercialization support through the National Grid Clean Tech Incubation Grant
Eligible reimbursement activities include:
- Prototype development
- Market research
- Patent filing support
- Commercialization consulting
- Product testing and validation
Who Should Apply
We encourage applications from startups working in:
- Sustainable and alternative materials
- Circular economy and materials reuse
- Recycling and waste reduction technologies
- Advanced materials
- Sustainable packaging
- Low-carbon manufacturing
- Sustainable construction materials
- Composite materials
- Material recovery and processing
- Technologies that extend product lifecycles
Eligibility
Applicants should be:
- Early-stage or growth-stage startups
- Developing scalable solutions related to sustainable materials
- Seeking commercialization, pilot, or market-entry support
- Available to pitch live at the competition event
