Bang on a Can: Long Play Festival at Brooklyn Music School
Two performances in one night at Brooklyn Music School, as a part of Long Play Festival 2026.
7:30 pm – Sarah Hennies and Tristan Kasten-Krause
9:30 pm – Shoko Nagai and Satoshi Takeishi – VORTEX
The duo of Tristan Kasten-Krause and Sarah Hennies works collaboratively to compose large-scale compositions employing drones, psychoacoustic phenomena, and extended techniques on double bass and an array of gongs, bells, vibraphone, and other percussion instruments. Their work includes delicate interplay of high-pitched tones, deep resonances, and patient, slowly unfolding extended durations that evoke a mysterious sonic landscape.
VORTEX features Shoko Nagai (piano, accordion, analog synthesizers, electronics) and Satoshi Takeishi (playing a unique “hybrid set” consisting of both western and eastern traditional percussion instruments). Their blend of acoustic instruments and electronic processing create a vivid sonic world.
You can get access to this show with a Long Play Pass.
