Orlas, from the Portuguese word for “shores,” is a father-and-son project by Chicri and Vic Delnur, where Brazilian classics meet a modern, groove-driven edge. Blending samba-jazz, bossa nova, disco-funk, and beyond, their sound feels both timeless and fresh. For Long Play, Orlas presents a special set featuring brand-new songs from their upcoming LP, performed live for the first time alongside highlights from their debut album. Joined by Sarah Maciel, Laura Pereira, Felipe dos Santos, and Thiago Dom, the band delivers a warm, immersive live experience that reimagines Brazil’s musical heritage through a contemporary lens.
Our borough’s finest youth chorus, making singing accessible to all children, performs works by renowned choral composer Caroline Shaw, Turkish-German singer-songwriter Alev Lenz, and Serbian musician and visual artist Aleksandra Vrebalov. Vrebalov’s In Atlantis is a world premiere for chorus and string quartet commissioned specifically for Long Play.
Saha Gnawa brings North African futurism to the U.S., uniting the founders of Innov Gnawa with leading figures from New York City’s jazz and contemporary music scenes to reimagine modern Gnawa music.
Bang on a Can presents the 5th year of Long Play, a four-day destination music festival, presented from Thursday, April 30 through Sunday, May 3, 2026. Long Play takes place at multiple venues around Downtown Brooklyn and features 70+ concerts, including the Bang on a Can All-Stars playing a brand new arrangement of the iconic Philip Glass album Glassworks in its entirety and Julia Wolfe’s Pulitzer prize-winning Anthracite Fields with Trinity Choir, Steve Reich’s classic Sextet plus Electric Counterpoint performed live by 13 electric guitarists, the legendary Billy Hart Quartet, the esteemed and extraordinary Amina Claudine Myers, and the US premiere of Kali Malone.
