Located in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn at 139A Lawrence Street, Irie Hut brings the vibrant flavors of the Caribbean to the neighborhood with a menu rooted in tradition and hospitality. Owner Emilia Patterson opened the restaurant just over a year ago, taking over the former Sandy Beaches space. She brings decades of experience operating Caribbean restaurants in Flatbush with her husband. Irie Hut was inspired by the opportunity to create a welcoming sit-down dining experience where guests can slow down, enjoy a meal together, and experience the warmth of Caribbean hospitality.

The menu features Caribbean favorites made fresh daily, including tender oxtail with rice and peas, jerk chicken, curry goat, fried fish sandwiches, and popular Jamaican breakfast dishes served each morning such as ackee and saltfish, callaloo, porridge, and baked goods. Emilia’s Nigerian-style jollof rice is a standout; a nod to her Nigerian heritage that complements a menu otherwise inspired by her husband’s Jamaican roots. No visit is complete without trying one of the house desserts, especially the crowd favorites Baileys cake or traditional Jamaican black cake.
