Rasin San Bout | Roots Without End Closing Art Reception
This exhibition brings together archival recordings and contemporary artwork to explore the sounds, stories, and cultural traditions of Haiti. In collaboration with the Association for Cultural Equity, HCX invited artists of Haitian descent to respond to the nearly 50 hours of recordings made in Haiti by ethnomusicologist Alan Lomax in 1936–1937. The result is a dynamic dialogue between past and present. Featuring works spanning textiles, film, and other mediums, the exhibition explores the enduring connections between Haitian heritage, music, memory, archives, and access.
DJ 2Cent will be there spinning sonic fusion sets representing the soul of this exhibition! Don’t miss the final chance to see “Rasin San Bout.”
