Opening Reception: 1-800 Happy Birthday Public Art Installation

On October 6, join artist and composer Samora Pinderhughes and The Healing Project Choir for a special live performance at The Plaza at 300 Ashland. Through collective song and performance, the group will hold space for reflection, remembrance, and community alongside the 1-800 Happy Birthday phone booth, a public art installation honoring all 15 of the project’s celebrants.

Following the performance, the evening continues upstairs at the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (MoCADA) with a community reception and gathering.

5–6 PM: Live performance at the 1-800 Happy Birthday phone booth, The Plaza at 300 Ashland Place
6–8 PM: Community reception at MoCADA, 10 Lafayette Avenue, 2nd Floor

The 1-800 Happy Birthday installation is free and open to the public 24 hours a day through December 1. Visitors are invited to step inside, pick up the phone, and hear messages celebrating the lives and legacies of those honored by the project.
