On April 13, the Downtown Brooklyn Public Realm Action Plan was awarded a 2022 American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) NY Honor Award. Organized by the ASLA-NY Chapter Awards Committee, the awards bolster local visibility and publicly recognize excellence in the practice of landscape architecture. DBP’s Regina Myer and May Yu; Bjarke Ingel Group’s Kai-Uwe Bergmann, Kate Cella and Morgan Mangelsen; and WXY Architecture’s Claire Weisz and Rob Daurio accepted the award at a ceremony held at The Center for Architecture in Manhattan.

The Public Realm Action Plan is a new vision and roadmap that will completely transform Downtown Brooklyn for the better. Streets will be reclaimed for greater pedestrian use, and attractive public spaces will be created that prioritize accessibility and the environment. These transformative measures will ultimately make the neighborhood a model for people-centric downtowns.
