Downtown Brooklyn Partnership announced the implementation of the popular city-wide program Open Streets, on Lawrence Street, in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn. Throughout summer weekends, DBP is working with DOT to implement NYC’s Open Streets program on Lawrence Street between Fulton and Willoughby Streets.

Open Streets prioritize pedestrians and cyclists by transforming streets into vehicle-free public space. Open Streets support multiple uses, including outdoor dining, retail and service, and community programming.

Open Streets – Temporary Full Closure

Temporary Full Closures allow for a range of car-free activities that support local businesses and schools, and create a safe place for New Yorkers to gather. These Open Streets support multiple uses, including outdoor dining, learning, retail and service, and community programming.

No vehicle access and no parking allowed when Temporary Full Closures are in effect. A 15 foot emergency lane must be clear at all times, for emergency vehicle access.
