Fulton Mall Improvement Association
Incorporated in 1976, the Fulton Mall Improvement Association (FMIA) is a not-for-profit corporation that works to improve the economic health and quality-of-life on Fulton Street, which welcomes more than 100,000 shoppers a day to its 150+ retail businesses. One of the most vibrant shopping districts in New York City, the 17-block corridor stretching from Boerum Place to Flatbush Avenue features a mix of national retailers like Macy's, H&M, and the Gap; local chains like Brooklyn Industries, Cookie's, and Shake Shack; and independent shops like Heart & Sole and Mirage Boutique.
Programs and Services:
The FMIA provides a range of supplementary sanitation, public safety, economic retail development, business, and marketing services to its constituents. For a complete list of resources available through all the BIDs in Downtown Brooklyn, download a copy of our BID Services Brochure.
Additionally, working together with the New York City Economic Development Corporation, the FMIA completed the $15 million Fulton Streetscape Project in early 2011. The project created a cleaner, more contemporary physical environment on Fulton Street with improved landscaping, modern street furniture, and additional seating and public spaces. These new improvements enhance the shopping experience for current visitors and help to attract new ones.
