Five more places to grab coffee in Downtown Brooklyn
The list is growing, so get out and get caffeinated.
May 24, 2018
Having decent coffee places can make or break a neighborhood, and in this department, Downtown Brooklyn passes the test with flying colors. With an ever-growing list of cafes, it seemed appropriate to issue an update to our previous report from the field.
Now try them all, and let us know which one’s the best!
276 Livingston Street
Take a break in the tropical rain forests of Downtown Brooklyn! Known for its farm-to-table coffee concept, Devocion serves up all the classics, as well as some unique creations of their own. Whatever you decide upon, take a moment to sip it in this LOT Architecture designed space (pictured above), with lush greenery in the center and decorative, tiled floors throughout.
129 Livingston Street
Headed by renowned French chef Francois Payard, this bistro offers a full food menu and bar in addition to their coffee. Sit down in the back for a meal, topped off with a fresh pastry. One look at their Instagram gives a pretty good overview of the fresh bread, creative cocktails, and expertly-crafted dishes at KarVer.
City Point; DeKalb Market Hall
With booths at both the DeKalb Market Hall and its very own spot upstairs in the Prince Street corridor of City Point, Nobletree serves up Brazilian beans freshly roasted from nearby Red Hook. If you’re looking for a quick coffee on the way to work, this should be next on your list to try.
DeKalb Market Hall
Francophiles rejoice, because there’s not one, but two French coffee options on this list. Café D’Avignon has it all, serving croissants, pain au chocolat, and more, baked fresh daily. And if you’re in the mood for something more substantial, you can also grab a croque monsieur, or American classics, like a B.E.C. (bacon, egg, + cheese), made on their freshly baked bread.
Hungry Ghost Coffee
Gotham Market at The Ashland; 80 DeKalb Avenue
With seven locations across Brooklyn, including the two recently opened in Downtown Brooklyn, it’s hard to miss Hungry Ghost these days, but you wouldn’t want to anyway. This much-loved cafe has all the classic caffeinated concoctions, and is known for emphasizing the perfect brew. If you’re looking for your next totally-impromptu Instagram post, you’ll undoubtedly find a great setup at either of the locations.
