“Snakes Have Bones” Author Talk and Book Signing with Julian Adon Alexander

Join local artist and illustrator Julian Adon Alexander (@snakebone_ on social media) for the launch of his debut monograph, Snakes Have BonesSnakes Have Bones showcases over 200 small scale works (spanning 2020-2024), on mostly graphite on toned paper. This electric collection features thoughtful essay contributions from artist peers and mentors, such as Alvin Armstrong, Marcos Chin, and KAWS.

The DNA in Alexander’s drawings are pulled from his deep connections to comic books, anime, pop culture, and the internet. He explores complex feelings in his textural drawings –from vulnerability to anxiety– through self-portraits and depictions of relatable Black Gen Z figures. The young Black people in Alexander’s work, real or imagined, are accessible and intriguing.

This event will feature a panel discussion with the artist, as well as a book signing. Books will be available to purchase from independent publisher Parallel Work.
