Percussionist Wilson “Chembo” Corniel, Jr. studied music in New York City, New Jersey, and Cuba on his way to a prolific career, during which he has worked with artists such as Chucho Valdes, Larry Harlow, Tito Puente, Machito, Celia Cruz, Grady Tate, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Hilton Ruiz, Dave Valentin, Willie Colon, Angela Bofill, Chico Freeman and many more. In 2001 he began leading his own Latin Jazz quintet, whose 2010 CD “Things I Wanted to Do” was nominated for the Best Latin Jazz Album GRAMMY. Chembo Corniel endorses Latin Percussion (LP) products, REMO Heads, Vic Firth Sticks and Sabian Cymbals.
