SUMMARY:Delirium
DESCRIPTION:September 8 – October 24\nDelirium is Igor Golyak’s bold new adaptation of Eugène Ionesco’s Frenzy for Two. Starring Andrey Burkovskiy and Chulpan Khamatova. A couple is locked in an endless argument while the world outside collapses into chaos. As the boundaries between reality and delusion dissolve\, Khamatova (“Her”) and Burkovskiy (“Him”) inhabit a space where conflict becomes connection\, and contradiction becomes a form of devotion. What begins as absurdist comedy reveals its deeper truth: two people fighting not against each other\, but for each other’s continued existence.

SUMMARY:Eden Girma: I hope / I won't make / any mistak(e)s
DESCRIPTION:ISSUE Project Room celebrates the 20th Anniversary of its Artists-In-Residence (AIR) program throughout 2026 with performances by current residents and returning alumni. This anniversary season highlights AIRs whose work reflects the ongoing evolution of a much broader community of experimental artists who have helped shape ISSUE for over twenty years. \nFriday\, September 18th at 8pm\, ISSUE presents the first commission from 2026 AIR Eden Girma. In this new work for voice and electronics\, Girma explores the fraught and ever-shifting nature of being\, as colored by loss\, language\, and belonging. Part dreamscape and part summoning circle\, an intimate diasporic familial archive is pieced together through the eyes of a five-year-old child. Improvisation with spoken word and song\, digital instruments\, live processing\, and mixed media\, opens a space in which to grapple against both tensions and resonances laced within narratives around migration\, cultural preservation\, embodied history\, and identity making.

SUMMARY:Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi
DESCRIPTION:Over two days\, St. Ann’s Warehouse presents a breathtaking herd of 50 life-size buffalo puppets that will gather in New York City. Part spectacle\, part ritual\, Return of the Buffalo: Tatanka Owe Akupi invites us to join the herd as they roam\, graze\, and run wild through Downtown Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan\, encountering live music\, poetry\, ceremonies\, and performances along the way. Inspired by the buffalo’s extraordinary return—from near extinction to repopulation—Return of the Buffalo ushers in a new period of healing. \nCreated by Amir Nizar Zuabi in partnership with Elders from Lenape and Lakota Tribes\, the artistic team will curate a series of events in Downtown Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan\, bringing the life-size buffalo into the streets\, at times roaming\, grazing and running wild amongst everyday New Yorkers. As the buffalo herd moves along the routes\, stopping at locations of historic significance\, acclaimed actors\, civic leaders\, gospel choirs\, dance troupes\, marching bands\, prominent musicians\, and tribal ceremonies will animate parks\, plazas\, and squares\, with live performances and inspiring public events. \nschedule of Downtown Brooklyn activations\n\n2:00PM: The herd gathers at Abolitionist Place. Welcome from Lenape Tribal members \n2:15PM: The herd parades along Willoughby Street and Willoughby Plaza to Columbus Park\n2:35PM: At Columbus Park\, members of the Delaware Nation\, Delaware Tribe (Lenni-Lenape) and Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso welcome the Buffalo and members of the Lakota tribe to their ancestral homeland. Spoken performances of historical texts and musical performance by Rhiannon Giddens\n2:50PM: The herd exits Columbus Park. Activations continue along Montague Street\, culminating at Brooklyn Bridge Park\n\nClick here for the latest updates.
