SUMMARY:An Evening with Guitarist Tomas Rodriguez: Album Release Concert in Brooklyn
DESCRIPTION:Join guitarist and composer Tomas Rodriguez for an intimate album release concert – presented by The Brooklyn Classical Guitar Society – celebrating his fourth recording\, Whispered Awakening. Centered on original solo guitar works\, the program gently weaves together Spanish\, Afro-Peruvian\, Cuban\, and West African influences into a sound that feels both rooted and quietly expansive. \nRodriguez’s music is guided by warmth\, groove\, and a thoughtful exploration of the guitar’s lineage across Africa and the Americas. As The New York Times noted\, he is “a guitarist whose influences span the Latin world\,” praising his work as “unique” and “highly recommended.” \nDon’t miss this rare live performance by Tomas Rodriguez at South Oxford Space in Brooklyn on May 3rd! Doors open at 4pm.

SUMMARY:The Met in HD: El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego
DESCRIPTION:The Metropolitan Opera’s 2025–26 Live in HD season comes to a close with a live transmission of American composer Gabriela Lena Frank’s first opera\, a magical-realist portrait of Mexican painters Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera\, with libretto by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz. A reversal of the Orpheus and Euridice myth\, the story depicts Frida\, sung by leading mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard\, leaving the underworld on the Day of the Dead and reuniting with Diego\, portrayed by baritone Carlos Álvarez. The famously feuding pair briefly relive their tumultuous love\, embracing both the passion and the pain before bidding the land of the living a final farewell.
